Interstim

What is Interstim?

Medtronic Bladder Control Therapy treats urinary retention not caused by an obstruction and the symptoms of overactive bladder, including urinary urge incontinence (leakage) and significant symptoms of urgency-frequency. Medtronic Bladder Control Therapy should be used after you have tried other treatments such as medications and behavioral therapy and they have not worked, or you could not tolerate them. In addition to risks related to a surgical procedure, complications from this therapy can occur and may require surgery. For a complete list of adverse events that have been associated with the therapy, please refer to the Important Safety Information. Patients should always discuss the potential risks and benefits of the therapy with a physician. This therapy is not for everyone. A prescription is required

Communication is Critical

Evidence suggests that breakdowns in the bladder-brain communication pathway are the root cause of OAB and non-obstructive urinary retention. While other therapies focus on the bladder muscles, Medtronic therapies target the nerves, which is thought to help restore normal bladder function.
